Beauty and the Baby

Can I first say that I can’t believe I’ve been holding these photos hostage for this length of time… since August to be exact! 2016 was a blur but this photoshoot was such a fabulous highlight for us. My dear friend and doctor of Chinese medicine, Dr. Carolina Zakes, called on myself and my Wasabi Dolls to treat some of her clients to a brunch and pampering at B’Livinn in Coral Gables. Dr. Zakes has traveled on the unique journey of using acupuncture therapy to assist woman and couples fulfill their desire to have children of their own. As many of you may (or may not) know, millions of American woman are faced with an inability to become pregnant and/or carry to term. So when the physical and emotion rollercoaster of IVF (invetrofertilization) results in a healthy pregnancy and a beautiful baby… there’s so much to celebrate! Take a moment and admire and celebrate these gorgeous Mommies, Mommies-to-be and we included Dr. Zakes lovely Mom in the fun as well (last photoed):

Fall Beauty Guide 2016

We all want to look like the best possible version of ourselves without looking dated or like a walking poster child for trends-gone-wrong, so here’s a little help to keep you achieve your own customized version of Autumn / Winter glamour.

Brows:

We still love a strong brow that doesn’t violate your already gorgeous facial features. The slightly unkempt brow that you may have noticed making their way down the runways and in magazines are probably not ideal for the look anyone is really going for. For that reason, continue with your regular brow care regiment or visit our friends at Anastasia Beverly Hills inside your closest Nordstrom and they will get you fixed right up. Also look into some of the fabulous new techniques in brow styling such as microblading if you’ve already reaped irreparable damage to your brows or don’t have much hair to start with. Our for South Florida dolls, give us a call or text and let us point you in the right direction for brow beautification.

Skin:

We’re so excited to announce that the overly contoured face is OVER! Natural makeup is back… and we’re totally okay with that. No more questions of what you’ve had done to your face because you demanded that chiseled contour on your already perfectly shaped face. If, you’d like your face or specific features to appear less round… contour away, that’s what it’s for. Flushed cheeks are in this season, so embrace it!

Hair:

Curly and wavy haired dolls… this is your season to let your natural hair work to your benefit! Brushed out waves are the way to go. They don’t have to be perfectly smoothed out… so after your blow out, you can still revive your look and not worry that it doesn’t look like day one. Throw in a jeweled hair accessory and let your fabulous textured (whatever your texture maybe) hair fly!

Eyes:

So the beauty universe is telling us to keep your eyes super minimal this season. We wont dare tell you what to do but we will say, choose whether you want to highlight your eyes or your lips with your chosen makeup look. Going strong on both may be too much even for a special occasion this Autumn / Winter season… Let the focus be on fabulous lashes on a minimally lined lid with a hint of shimmer so you can go strong on your lip color. Or try a soft tinted lip and a more dramatic eye look if that’s what you’re in the mood for. Kohl-rimmed eyes with an almost naked lip will definitely do the trick!

If you know you have a few important dates and /or events in your near future, let us know and we can get you squared away with our team of stylists to give you a personalized beauty experience that will have you feeling and looking like a million bucks!

Get Glam (and Fit) with Tiff

I had the pleasure of meeting this gorgeous lady during a wild trip to Vegas a few years ago, shortly after she began her journey as a fitness enthusiast turn personal trainer and fitness guru (she literally eats, sleeps and breaths fitness). This blonde bombshell always gave me iconic character “Ginger,” played by Sharon Stone from the classic film, Casino (during the “good years” of course). So it’s only right that we got to capture her in a retro fabulous look! We wanted to find out a little more about how our muse got fit and how she can get the rest of us there too…

Q&A with Tiffany Lynn Carter of Tiffany Lynn Fitness

Shari Williams: What did you do before becoming a kick ass personal trainer and fitness coach?
Tiffany Lynn: I wasn’t doing much in the fitness area that’s for sure! I was working, mostly, but that “21 drinking bod” came out and I wasn’t happy plus my love for food didn’t help. When I found out you can lift weights to eat more I wasn’t saying no!
SW: What’s your favorite cheat meal?
TL: Pizza and cookies!
SW: What is your ultimate fitness goal?
TL: I would absolutely love to be able to travel and spread my love for fitness. Building my online training has been a great start. I love being able to help out people all over the country instead of just who is in my area.
SW: What’s your best advice for a bride that’s trying to drop those last pesky lbs before their big day?
TL: For one, don’t cut your calories and starve. You’ll only wind up putting on weight or binging out, creating more accumulated fat. I’d say choose healthier options and start slow by going on walks at night with your groom to be. Incorporating fitness into your lifestyle shouldn’t be drastic and it shouldn’t be stressful!
SW: What’s your training style?
TL: Lifting weight as heavy as I can. Women usually think this is going to “bulk them up” but I’ve been training for over three years and I’m still waiting for that to happen..
SW: How long did it take you to get from where you started to where you are now?
TL: I’ve been training over three years, weight training that is. I’ve always been active but weight training has only been for a short period.
SW: What’s the best advice you can give someone who’s struggling with their health and/or weight?
TL: Start slow, there’s no one in the race but you. Definitely don’t compare yourself to others because everyone’s bodies are different. Looking back, if you had started when you said you were going to, you would already be closer to where you want today. Lastly, don’t give up. One cheat meal won’t set you back and eating healthy one day won’t make you lose weight.
SW: Name one thing that would surprise people to know about you.
TL: I love to sing. I’m no where close to being good at it but when I’m alone I’m singing like I’m Christina Aguilera!

Talie and I decided to get glam in the office when my new Lilly Lashes arrived in “Vegas”. I love the glamorous look and feel of the 3D Mink Collection and the added bonus of longevity. The quality is unmatched by any other brand I’ve tried and they look so unnaturally natural… if that makes sense! Talie perfected her custom blended foundation just for my complexion and got it 100% on point. My bronzy smokey eye was accompanied by a coral/pink blended lip color.

Next time we decide to have this much fun in the office we promise to take better notes on the brands and colors used!

Let’s talk about drama!

Pretty in Pink: Pregnancy Shoot

Having your first child is truly something special and a moment in time that doesn’t get a repeat. For that reason it’s very special when a first time Mommy-to-be gets to relish in the glow of her pregnancy, and take photos without feeling the need to suck in (that little joke was courtesy of our Mommy Model herself). Belinda asked us to give her a natural “no-makeup” makeup look with tousled waves and that’s just what she got! Simply Beautiful.

Take a look at some of the photos from our dear friend, Belinda’s pregnancy photoshoot:

Makeup Trends 2016

Fashionistas everywhere are falling in love with the 2016 forecast of trends in makeup. Fresh skin and pops of color with a little twinkle will be the focus this Winter season into the new year! We’ve created a little guide for you to get inspired by some fun updates in beauty and makeup. Enjoy!

Ultra Bright Foundation:

More chic and understated, a lighter foundation was a sensation at Nina Ricci and Balenciaga. The seamless texture with a tint of gloss, gives and hydrated and translucent look, for a healthy after-summer glow.

Ultra Bright Foundation

Dark Pout:

Out with the conventional reds and pinks, Fall 2015 lips are dark shades of Bordeaux, plum and deepest black. Matte or iridescent, don’t be afraid to turn up the drama with a dark lip.

Dark Pout

 Shades of Orange:

A big trend on the catwalk, shades of Apricot, Coral and Mandarin are a fresh look for Fall/Winter 2015-2016. Blended all around the eye area or washed over the lid, designers, including Rodarte, brought the autumnal hues to the forefront.

Shades of Orange
 Strong Brows:

Because they define the face, strong, thick brows are back and look set to be the focus for Fall. Swap your tweezers for brushes and gels to create a bolder look. Remember to remain true to your natural brow shape, you’re guaranteed to begin a whole new love affair with your face!

Strong Brows
Graphic eyes

The story in eye style for Fall 2015 is a geometric shape around the eye with an eyeliner and mascara.  Create an abstract look using precise lines, dashed-off strokes or freestyle shapes. As long as it is big and bold, then it is on trend.

Graphic Eyes
The New Smoky Eye:

This smoky eye is more subtle, more sophisticated and less defined this time around, but it is back nevertheless. Wear at day or night with a nude base and lip, as seen at Chanel.

The New Smokey Eye

No Makeup Makeup:

An even complexion, pure lips and nude eyes, this beauty look was omnipresent at the shows and is the trend to follow. Makeup is used to correct imperfections and to highlight natural beauty: less is definitely more.

No Makeup Makekup
Back to Black:

Applied to the inner eye, wisped through the eyebrows and on the upper eyelid, liner was the indispensable tool backstage to create an intense look in a single sweep. Grunge is normally a look for the evening, but wear it in the day for a subtle rock or classic look.

Back to Black
Accessorize Your Eyes:

Lines of rhinestones under the eyes and carefully trimmed false eyelashes were used to shape an intense look, 2.0-style.

Accessorize Your Eyes
Deep Tan:

As a bulwark against the Winter elements, the models showcased a glowing tan on the Fall/Winter 2015-2016 runway. The secret? A sweeping blush gives that just-come-back-from-vacation look. What’s more glamorous than traveling to St. Barth’s during the Winter months? Looking like you did.

Deep Winter Tan
 Temporary Tattoos:

For Anthony Vaccarello, makeup artists created a half star at the corner of eye and at Giamba the girls had the tiny arrows on their cheeks. From New York to Paris and passing over Milan and London, eyeliner designs on the model’s faces were all over the runway. The arty details varied, but it’s an easy idea for adding a rebellious touch to an evening look.

Our Marsala Obession

marsala_bouquet

This year we’ll refer to the Pantone color that makes us swoon every Autumn/Winter as Marsala although, Chanel’s classic “Vamp” from the 90’s is still the name that delights us. No matter what name you prefer to call it, this rich burgundy hue works from head to toe every year and looks great on every skin tone.  Take a little style inspiration from these Vamp or Marsala infused looks:
